Your Ceremony

Your Ceremony Site. Most couples elect to recite their0326 vows outdoors under our blue southern sky. Some of the favorite spots are under the timber-framed arbor, between majestic rows of river birch trees, and on the arched foot bridge. Your Event Planner will help you select the ideal location for you and your guests, but more importantly she will help you pick the perfect time of day to exchange your vows so that you and your guests are comfortable as the magic of the estate envelops you. Outdoor setup is available, including décor, chairs, and tents.

The Weather. Weddings can be held at McGuire’s Millrace Farm any time of year. The air conditioned/heated barn with its elegant yet charming décor makes a beautiful backdrop for any ceremony. And, if you plan your wedding outdoors and the weather turns inclement, the entire ceremony can easily be moved indoors at no extra charge.

Exclusivity. The day of your wedding is special not only to you, but to us as well. We want to emphasize your exclusivity on the Farm; that is why we only book one event at a time. The grounds, your Event Planner, and the McGuire’s Millrace Farm staff will be at your disposal from the moment you arrive to the time you leave.

IMG 9924Getting Married in North Carolina. You will need to acquire a North Carolina marriage license to be married in our grand state. Both you and your fiancé will need to be present and provide a valid driver’s license and a non-laminated, original copy of your Social Security card. You will also need to provide a copy of your divorce decree if either of you has been married before. The cost is $60 cash. Feel free to contact the Cherokee County Register of Deeds Office at 828-837-2613 for further information. Marriage licenses may be obtained at the Cherokee County Courthouse, located in downtown Murphy, only 4.7 miles from our facility.

The Blessing. There is a special feeling at McGuire’s Millrace Farm. A non-denominational Litany of Dedication was performed at the Open House to dedicate the building and grounds to God and blessing all those who enter there. May only blessings and goodness come of your beginnings here at McGuire’s Millrace Farm.
